You will undertake 5 exciting specialty dives, each dive counting towards your Specialty Diver certification. This will give you a taste of different diving adventures and experiences, under the supervision and guidance of our experienced instructors.

5 specialty dives are included in the Advanced Adventure course.

There are a variety of specialty options available, here is just a few that our instructors offer. Dive options are subject to the course schedule and conditions during the course. Your instructor will pick the specialties that suit the current conditions and tide times the best.

Navigation:
Navigation is an important foundation skill for divers! Underwater navigation is a crucial dive skill, but it does not need to be difficult. Become a better, more confident diver who always knows where they are going.

Perfect Buoyancy:
Glide through the ocean effortlessly, hover weightlessly over reefs! Extend your dive time, reduce your air consumption and more with the SSI Perfect Buoyancy specialty. Having perfect buoyancy is the key to success.

Deep Diving:
Ready to explore deeper wrecks, coral-encrusted walls, reefs and more? Many exciting dive sites lie in deep waters and the SSI Deep Diving Specialty will teach you how to get there – safely and with confidence.

Night & Limited Visibility:
See a diversity of marine life that comes out at night and get closer than you ever thought possible! Diving does not end when the sun goes down! Learn all you need to dive safely at night or in limited visibility.

Waves, Tides & Currents:
Speed down the Swansea Channel and feel like you’re flying!  Water motion can have a huge effect on your diving. Take control of your dives no matter the conditions with the SSI Waves, Tides and Currents specialty.

 *Flying After Diving Guidelines

  • For a single no-decompression dive, a minimum preflight surface interval of 12 hours is suggested. (Including pool and shallow water immersions)

  • For multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum preflight surface interval of 18 hours is suggested. Dive Newcastle recommends 24 hours to err on the side of safety.

  • For dives requiring decompression stops, 24 hours minimum is recommended.

To err on the side of safety, many divers plan a 24-hour surface interval or longer and spend their time exploring topside attractions.

  • All divers and students need to follow the recommendation given by the manufacturer of the dive computer regarding No Fly Times and should always take the most conservative approach in regard's to flying after diving. Waiting longer before flying when possible after diving and exploring the top side during this period is always your best approach. This information is discussed further and in more detail during your dive course.
